Harewood Why Pre Arrange A Memorial

FAQs about pre-arranging your memorials

How do I pre-arrange my memorial?

We recommend making a time to meet with our friendly memorial adviser for a personal tour of the gardens.

Once you’ve decided what memorial you’d like, we can discuss your options for personalisation, and confirm pricing.

We then ask you to complete a reservation application form, pay a deposit and invoice you for the balance of your arrangements. You can make regular payments over 12 months by arrangement. One of our team can help you with this process.

When we receive full payment, we’ll give you a reservation pack that includes a certificate showing date of issue, the location of your proposed memorial, your full name, and your reservation number. We also supply a receipt for all payments made, the memorial gardens terms and conditions, and a map showing your memorial position, and we recommend you place this pack safely with your solicitors or with your other family papers.

We also place a blank memorial plaque in your chosen position. The plaque will be replaced with your personalised one when the time comes.

When the time comes to use your reservation, we will confirm final details with the executor of your estate. We will then establish your memorial as you have requested.

Can I choose where my memorial is in the gardens?

Yes. We can show you all the garden settings and memorial options. When you select a site, you may like to consider the future needs of your family and choose a position where everyone can be close together.

We can pre-arrange memorials for individuals, couples, and families.

How much does a memorial cost?

The cost of a memorial depends on what type of memorial you choose and which part of the garden the memorial is placed in. Browse our memorial options for more information and starting prices. Adding personalisation or selecting a larger plaque for your memorial may increase this cost.

You can plan all the details of your memorial, and pay for it at today’s prices, secure in the knowledge that your family will have nothing more to pay, unless they change arrangements.

When you purchase a memorial in the Harewood Memorial Gardens, you and your family will never be asked for another payment, and your memorial will be maintained in perpetuity.

Can I pre-arrange to add my name to a family memorial?

Yes, you can add your name to a family plaque or a memorial if there is room. Permission must be obtained from the person who has authority over the memorial. You can also upgrade your memorial to a larger design. Some conditions do apply.

Prices do increase, so it is always a benefit to you to pre-arrange your inscription at today's prices.

Can I design my memorial?

You may personalise your memorial plaque or monument with graphics, ceramic or lasered photographs, and personal inscriptions. We can send you a digital proof to show you how the memorial will look. Please note, some design elements depend on the size of the memorial plaque or monument chosen.

Can I upgrade my plaque to a different design?

Yes. You can replace or upgrade an existing plaque, depending upon the design and style of that area of the garden. We can show you options and guide you.

Can my memorial reservation be cancelled or refunded?

No. The memorial reservation is a contract in perpetuity and the plot reservation is maintained in perpetuity.

Can my memorial reservation be transferred?

Yes, at the discretion of the crematorium management. An administration fee would apply.

How long will my memorial be in the gardens?

All memorials at the Harewood Memorial Gardens are maintained in perpetuity. The gardens are set aside as a resting place in perpetuity, giving you peace of mind you will always rest safe in our care.

Do we own the land on which our memorial sits?

No. You have a lease to occupy that position in the garden in perpetuity, and you own your plaque and your memorial, but not the land.
